The owners of st. Mary's landing owned the halfway house. They sold it and that's where Wawa's is, Mona and Billy are the owners of st. Mary's Landing. and that is true that is the halfway point between DC and Point Lookout
How's their breakfast? My family and I love some good homemade breakfast!
They might be hosting a band that night, but you would have to call to be sure. Really, I wouldn't be surprised if they closed early so that the employees can get home to their own parties.
Oct 2001 in charlotte hall
Enjoyed the regular bands playing at this restaurant.
Staff is always friendly and very on top of their orders and getting your drinks refilled... I have never been there and had bad service! Food is always delicious and comes out in a timely manner... crab cakes, stuffed ham sandwiches, their breakfast, it's all very very good top of the line in my opinion! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a good st. Mary's County meal with friendly staff who will get their jobs done right in a good timely fashion!
Great food Nice people
The customer service is always fast, fantastic vibes, super friendly staff. I will visit again when I get in the area.
I hadn't been there for about 50 years and really it hasn't changed much the food still as good as it was before so yes we will go back their prices are good and you get your money's worth on your servings so it was well worth it
I'm a repeat customer, however, TODAY was not an that great. Greeter and one waitress (not ours) were not very friendly. My salad came with hair in it (management should make kitchen staff wear hair nets). I wasn't even offered a discount on my bill. The women's bathroom was disgusting, and that's never happened to me before. Our waitress (Isabella) was very attentive and kind. I will come back another time, but if I have ANOTHER really bad experience like today, then sadly, that will be it for this customer. And family!
My Husband introduced me to St. Mary’s Landing and he was so right, they’ve got fantastic fried chicken!! If you favor a more rustic scene, then you’ll appreciate the down home atmosphere and being located right across from the Hughesville Farmers Market adds a tint of country laid back even more. Again, I always order the fried chicken you can’t go wrong there. But the only down side I’d say is that there aren’t many side orders to choose from (and we’ve been so many times that I’ve tried them all) and they’re all bland. But I don’t go to St. Mary’s Landing for the sides...I go for the fried chicken!! I do like the fact that they have a bar and the margarita wasn’t too bad.
Legendary French fries and a very nice bartender. Played lots of Keno!
Food not fully cooked
I call this outstanding restaurant many times since I like the special atmosphere that is unique to this restaurant. The crew is exceptionally helpful and qualified. The service is absolutely rapid. Also, the food they prepare is outstanding. I visited more than once and I was always pleased. The cost is decent. I highly recommend this place to all my friends.
This is a wonderful place for a delicious, homestyle meal. Full bar, American type food options. Atmosphere is exactly what you would expect for a "down the county" establishment, and it is charming but nothing fancy. Biggest complaint is temperature control is not appropriate in the summer time. It is far too warm and we tend to stay away in the warmer months. Suggestion: go for breakfast!
Food was excellent! Menu had so many options. Steak was cooked to perfection!
Great food and friendly staff. If your hungry and un the area, stop for a visit. They also have country music on weekends including Sunday!!!!
Always good food and cheap prices
I was not there. Have not been there in 2 most. I was at Cream of The Crop Nursery, Charlotte Hall, MD. Nursery has an excellent selection of Trees, Shrubs and Perennials. Wholesale prices. Location across from Farmers Market, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622
Used to go for the breakfast buffet. After they were closed by the health department and reopened, just not the same. Food is lukewarm, "fresh fruit" tasteless. We wont be going back.
My husband and I stopped in because of the reviews of this place being a nice little local family restaurant, however that is not the experience that we got.We were never greeted as we walked in, the two ladies at the front were too preoccupied talking about a neighbor of theirs. They proceeded to talk in front of us and not say a word to us, and spoke only to the customers around us, which we assume are regulars since they were so over-enthusiastic to see them.We were finally seated (but still not even spoken to or greeted, we were expected to just follow I assume.)The only words spoken to us were, “Is a booth okay?”After waiting for a bit, no one had come to even so much as take our drink order or say they’ll be with us momentarily, so we left and will not be back.I can’t even rate this place based off of their food because my drink orders were never even taken.
Food was delish. Waitress was on point and very nice!!
Great chicken wing platter. We always order the 50 wing platter so yum
Can't even make grilled cheese dry. Crabcakes were great.
Came for the breakfast buffet...what a waste of time. Drove 45 mins for dirty plates, I dug thru six before I got to one that didn’t have any grease on it. The buffet that was not even close to ready. There was no utensils to get your food...so I’m sure people was digging with their hands. There was no bacon at 8am. A lot of other spots were empty too. The employees might as well stayed home...more concerned about flipping their hair and looking in the mirror. Don’t you think y’all should do that before you get to work??? If you need a touch up at 7:45....then I guess you didn’t do that great a job to start with. Wow...what a shame. What’s happened to this place??
Great food and atmosphere. A St. Mary's staple.
Food is mediocre, prices are cheap, its ok
The food was great and so was the server
My going away party was held here. Prior to my relocating to KY. Food is good. Miss the fried chicken. Comfort food in So MD.
1st visit ... loved it!
Great service atmosphere music and food
Nice breakfast buffet and waitress!
Great food, hot inside, but the great food & service makes up for it!
Great food
Great fried Chicken Dinner! Good family place, taste like home!!
It smells horrible as soon as you come in. The tables are fold out plastic picnic tables with out dated tablecloths that are sticky. The air conditioning did not work or didn't work well when we were there. The food is mediocre at best. The kids and I got the breakfast buffet and half of the food items didn't have utensils so you had to use one that was already being used for different food. The eggs were soooooo over cooked. We couldn't toast our beagles and I told the hostess and she literally just gave me a thumbs up. So, I asked if they could toast it in the kitchen and they said idk if we can do that let me check. Our waitress was very attentive and polite, for that I gave the 1 star.
Food was pretty good. Employees were very cliquey. This place has been around a long time and it looks it. Definitely a local go to.
Nice place to eat since they cleaned the place up
First time being there was awkward; showed up for a simple application (first time ever walking in) ended up standing at the front desk by the front door for at LEAST 10 minutes before someone decided it was time to assist me. Not too professional I would say, not too thrilled to hear a call either smh 😒🤦🏻♂️
Don't bother stopping here: We had a little trouble being seated but nothing too bad. However, after reviewing the menu, no one would talk to us or take our order. It was very slow at the time (about 4 different tables had customers). There were always 3 staff at the register staring off into space after making eye contact with us and several other staff members walked to the register and talked to the three standing there and then left. Another staff member wandered by and watched football on the overhead TV and later another did the same thing. No less than an additional three waitresses (different than the several around the register) walked by providing checks or take-out boxes to other customers but never said "boo" to us. After about 15 minutes we left.
Best damn fried chicken in Maryland 😂. Go there every time we travel through from North Carolina.
Great food, awesome service by Larry
The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. But as soon as you walk in there is a smell of urine. For the Philly cheesesteak they use steakumm’s but don’t even break up the slices. The rest of the food was great.
Decent American-style food, casual, lots of patrons.
Good food, good prices, quick service
Very good food and highly recommend this place. Great time with good people and good food. Very convenient off of Route 5. Good old southern cooking
I would give this place no stars if I could. Went with my husband and son for breakfast. As soon as you walk in the waiting area,it smell as if someone had been using it for their personal bathroom,it smell of raw urine. So we thought maybe the dining area would be better. Nope, smelled just as nasty. I could not imagine how the kitchen look or how the food was made or tasted with that smell so strong. Don't waste your time or money going there. Many other places to go that are way better.
This is solid, old-school diner/restaurant that is delightful to know still exists. The attraction for us was southern Maryland stuffed ham available for breakfast. Stuffed ham is unique to southern Maryland and there are slight variations between Charles and St Mary's counties. It is a large ham, stuffed with greens, typically kale, and spiced with mustard, pepper, etc.. The ham is boiled, traditionally and the greens stuffing is layered within the ham by stuffing it in pockets cut in the ham. Sounds unusual but I guarantee its tastiness. This place has large rooms for catering and a full service bar.
Band playing Christmas music & OLD country songs.
Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Menu had good variety and food was tasteful. Easy access from highway. Pleasant servers. Prices are reasonable.
I order a Turkey club and it was the worst tasting club I have ever had. The bacon had a funny and weird taste to it the bread was very soggy. It tasted so bad that after two bits I could not finish and the whole thing ended in the trush. It was a waste of money and time will never eat there again
Very nice dinner we enjoy it very much and we had good service
Great breakfast buffet. You can order your eggs ant way you want. Good service.
